Liverpool again rejected by Lille over possible return for loanee striker

Lille is once again said to have rejected the possibility of Divock Origi returning to Liverpool this month as they wish to see the loanee complete his season long deal, Daily Mail reports.

The long term injury to Daniel Sturridge has put a lot of pressure on Brendan Rodgers’ striking selection as both Mario Balotelli and Rickie Lambert have failed to impress in the role.

Origi was on top form when he completed his switch to Anfield following the World Cup in the summer, but was loaned out to the Ligue 1 in order to be given more playing time.

However, it is unlikely for Rodgers to acquire the services of the 19-year-old this month after Lille director Jean-Michel Vandamme ruled out a possible return.

“Origi to Liverpool now? It would cost at least £4.7m but at the moment it is not possible.”

The Belgium international had a great start for his club this season, but was unable to continue his early goal scoring form, netting three goals so far from 23 appearances in all competitions.
