Liverpool and Arsenal may need to look elsewhere for another striker after top target with Alexandre Lacazette set to miss a number of matches through injury, Daily Star reports.
The 23-year-old has been linked with a move to the Premier League, but with less than a week before the end of the January window, his knock could halt any potential deals.
Lyon earlier revealed that the English duo will need to offer around £28million if they are to begin negotiations over a potential switch.
The French attacker is believed to be unable to feature in his club’s next three games against Monaco, Paris Saint-Germain, and Lorient.
Journalist Jonathan Johnson revealed: “Latest reports say Lyon’s Alexandre Lacazette out for 3 weeks with injury. Almost certain to miss Monaco, PSG & Lorient. Huge blow.”
Lacazette has been in remarkable form this season, scoring 25 goals in 22 starts in all competitions, helping his team top the Ligue 1 table.
Another forward both Brendan Rodgers and Arsene Wenger are also keeping a close eye on is Real Madrid star Karim Benzema, another possible candidate to lead the lines at their respective clubs.
