Liverpool and Manchester United have been boosted by the news that transfer target Marco Reus has told Borussia Dortmund he won’t be renewing his contract at the Westfalenstadion, according to the Daily Mirror.
The German international was linked with a move to both clubs in the summer, with reports suggesting he was not happy with the situation at Dortmund, having seen Mario Gotze and Robert Lewandowski leave for Bayern Munich in the past 12 months or so.
The 25-year-old forward will see a release clause of £20million triggered at the end of the season on his current deal, and both Premier League clubs will surely be making an offer having heard the news he won’t be signing a new deal with the Bundesliga giants.
However, Spanish newspaper Marca reports that Real Madrid have already agreed personal terms with the forward, in a move that would appear similar to the one completed to sign Toni Kroos from Bayern Munich in the summer.
Liverpool remain keen to bring Reus to the Premier League, with Brendan Rodgers reportedly eyeing Reus as a replacement for Luis Suarez during the summer, only to be told by Dortmund the player was not for sale.
