Liverpool star Christian Benteke is set to have scans on his hamstring in order to determine the severity of his latest knock, according to reports from the Daily Star.
The 24-year-old was forced off at halftime in the 1-1 draw against Norwich City and was replaced by another summer signing Danny Ings who gave his side the lead.
He is now set to miss the upcoming Capital One Cup clash against Carlisle tomorrow and is still a doubt to feature against his former side Aston Villa this coming weekend.
Reds assistant manager Gary McAllister revealed that Benteke will undergo an MRI today and has also tipped Ings to be the perfect replacement should the Belgium international fail to recover in time.
“Christian is going to have an MRI scan today and hopefully we will find the problem,” he said.
“It was really refreshing to see his performance.
“And if you had seen him every day on the training ground since he arrived here if anybody deserves a goal it’s Danny.”
Manager Brendan Rodgers has been under heavy pressure from the club after failing to register a win from their last five fixtures in all competitions.
Benteke has so far featured in all six Premier League matches for his side this term while managing to net a total of two goals.
