Liverpool have been dealt a blow in their chase to sign Kevin Grosskreutz after it is believed that he is closing in on a move to Stuttgart, Daily Star reports.
The 27-year-old joined Turkish giants Galatasaray during the recent summer window, but has been unable to feature for his new club due to a mix-up with his transfer papers.
He is now pushing for a January exit, with the Reds emerging as a possible destination for the winger who worked with manager Jurgen Klopp during their time at Borussia Dortmund.
It is said that Klopp is a huge admirer of the Germany international, but is looking for a return to the Bundesliga following his current transfer error.
Despite interest from the Premier League giants, Grosskreutz is now believed to be on the verge of completing a move to Stuttgart.
He featured 176 times for Dortmund from 2009 until his exit in 2015, scoring 23 goals and could now be on his way back to the German top flight.
