Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has come out to play down the possibility that Simon Mignolet will be dropped ahead of their upcoming match against Stoke City despite his poor form in recent weeks, Daily Star reports.
The 26-year-old made matters worst when he produced a howler after spilling a catch that led to FC Ludogorets scoring a goal during their 2-2 Champions League draw, hugely denting their qualification chances.
However, Rodgers revealed that he still has faith in his goalkeeper and is willing to put the past behind him as he focuses on a good result against Stoke.
“I will say to him that as a goalkeeper you have to let those things go and refocus again.
“It was one where you just need to keep his confidence as high as we can, look to the weekend and try to keep a clean sheet.”
The Reds have been hugely disappointing following their second place finish last season as their lack of defensive composure added with their inability to find the net has put them 18 points behind league leaders Chelsea.
