Liverpool boss demands starlet grows up

Liverpool's Raheem Sterling

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has blasted winger Raheem Sterling and has urged the youngster to get his head back in to football, as reported by the Daily Mirror.

Sterling was cleared of assault after spending much of last week in court with ex-girlfriend Shana Ann Rose Halliday and now faces a separate court case over a traffic incident.

Rodgers gave the 18 year old a chance in the Anfield first team last season and the winger repaid his faith with fine form that resulted in an England call up.

However the success may have gone to the head of Sterling and Rodgers is desperate that the youngster gets his head back in football and ‘stabilises his life’.

“Raheem needs to have a clear mind in everything in his life – he needs to stabilise his life,” the Liverpool manager explained,” Rodgers told the Daily Mirror.

“We mustn’t forget he is 18, but he has to understand the remarkable opportunity he has at one of the biggest clubs in the world and focus everything in on his career.

“Once he does that and he is clear in his mind, he has no distraction and we can get to the level of performance of the first four or five months of last season.”
