Liverpool boss hopes for succesful January window

Right Forward - Daniel Sturridge

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is hoping to repeat the success that he had in the January transfer window last season when it opens in the New Year, as reported by the Daily Mail.

Daniel Sturridge and Philippe Coutinho arrived at Anfield during the winter transfer window last season and massively helped the team, especially in the absence of Luis Suarez.

The Liverpool boss is keen to add more quality to his side in the New Year to ensure the club continue to push their way towards a top four finish.

Rodgers admits that it is more difficult to attract players in January especially with the Reds not in Europe this season.

However players who want regular first team football and the chance to be part of one of the biggest clubs in Europe will be an option the Merseyside club.

‘In January it’s difficult but our recruitment guys are working hard to identify that type of player to come in,’ said Rodgers.

‘Last year Daniel Sturridge came in and has been brilliant, so there are players out there.

‘But you’ve got to dig deeper and harder to get them in.

“Sometimes they might not be household names but they could have the quality. When Daniel came in there was a big question mark and he’s answered those questions. Coutinho, you can see, is a top young player.”
