Liverpool boss lauds deadly duo

Striker - Luis Suarez

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has heaped praise on his newly formed strikeforce as the Reds go top of the Premier League, as reported by talkSPORT.

Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge both scored in Liverpool’s comfortable win over Crystal Palace on Saturday and the duo clearly already have an understanding despite playing together just a handful of times.

Suarez has come back with a bang since his lengthy suspension and Sturridge has hit the ground running too this season.

The England man is set to lead the line for his country next week in two crucial World Cup qualifiers and Rodgers believes that his partnership with Suarez could take the Reds to heady heights.

“There are not many better at combining, and you can see the link they’ve got already. You see that sort of telepathic nature they have, and as a team it really bodes well for us moving forward.

“Their movement was outstanding. They give you a real thrust and a real edge. They are really clever around the box and they get goals.

“We’ve done many exercises to help them improve their combination but all we ask is for them to work hard for the team and then their natural ability comes out.

“Those two occupy a back four on their own with their cleverness and their movement and, when we get other players around them, they’re a real threat.”
