Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has come out to praise his team’s fighting spirit after picking up all three points in the 1-0 Europa League win over Rubin Kazan, Skysports reports.
The result now means that the Reds have picked up three consecutive victories in all competition as they now sit second in Group B with two games left to play.
Klopp revealed that he was happy with the result, but also added that the players should have scored more given that they were constantly on the attack.
“The first 80 minutes was really good. It was not easy to play because it was a fantastic atmosphere but the pitch is not in the same shape as the rest of the stadium,” he said.
“It was not easy with possession, we could have had more and we deserved our goal and then we have to learn to win. We had 1-0 and lost rhythm and opened the door for Rubin Kazan.”
The former Borussia Dortmund manager also took the time to praise Jordan Ibe on his performance after the 19-year-old scored his first goal for the club yesterday.
“He is a good lad and a big talent, a very skilled player.”
“He has a really good base and he feels good at this moment but he has to work on things and he has a lot to learn.”
The players will now have to turn their attentions to the upcoming fixture against Crystal Palace as they look to build from their recent 3-1 away win over current Premier League champions Chelsea last weekend.
