Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has come out to blast the performance of his players following their 2-0 defeat to Newcastle United, Mirror reports.
The result marked Klopp’s second defeat since his arrival as the squad failed to replicate the form which saw them beat Southampton 6-1 in the League Cup last week.
When asked about what happened, the former Borussia Dortmund boss admitted that everything went against them, with the match not bringing out the best in his players.
“What went wrong? Nearly everything, I would say. The start, the middle and the end. I don’t know,” he said.
“This was obviously not a really good football game.”
An own goal from Martin Skrtel and a late strike from Georginio Wijnaldum was enough to reward the Magpies with all three points as the Reds miss out on the opportunity to move further up the table.
Klopp also saw his side find the back of the net, with Alberto Moreno finishing a great cross from James Milner, but the goal was eventually chalked off due to a questionable offside call.
Apart from Liverpool, other shock results saw Manchester City lose to Stoke City while new promoted Bournemouth managed to register all three points against current champions Chelsea.
