Liverpool star Steven Gerrard is set to leave the club and likely join Major League Soccer at the end of the season, Sky Sports reports.
The Reds captain has played for the Anfield club since the age of eight but after finding regular playing time harder to come by this season, is already in talks with Los Angeles Galaxy, New York Red Bulls, and New York City.
The former England international has been in discussions over a new contract for some time, but seems ready to end his career abroad with his Liverpool deal ending in the summer.
Ex-teammate Jamie Carragher said in regards to the news: “It’s a sad day for Liverpool and English football with the Gerrard news.
“But I think it’s the right decision all things considered.”
Gerrard played 695 games for Liverpool over his career, captaining the Merseyside club for 11 years winning 11 trophies and scoring 180 goals.
