Liverpool are on the verge of confirming the signature of Bayern Munich star Mario Gotze for a fee in the range of £20 million, according to The Sun.
The Reds are set to splash the cash this summer in a bid to get back among the top-four reckoning and Jurgen Klopp could well bring in a number of his former players.
Gotze shot into the global limelight by scoring the goal to win the World Cup for Germany in 2014 but has found life at Bayern tough going.
With an array of superstars in the Allianz Arena squad, the gifted playmaker has largely had to make do with a fringe role and only started 11 Bundesliga games in 2015-16.
Klopp was critical in turning Gotze into the player he currently is, mentoring the midfielder during their mutual time at Borussia Dortmund.
The report suggests that the Bayern star is top of Liverpool’s wanted list this summer and a £20 million move is on the cards – potentially to be completed before Euro 2016.
