Liverpool are close to completing a deal for Udinese star Piotr Zielinski after he hinted that the move is very possible, Futbolfejs.pl reports.
The 21-year-old midfielder is currently on loan at Empoli and has emerged as a target for manager Jurgen Klopp ahead of a potential squad overhaul in the summer.
He was heavily linked with a move to Anfield after the club is said to have met with the midfielder’s representatives in order to negotiate a deal for his services.
The Poland international admitted that there was more to the speculation when asked about the switch as he is currently working very hard in order to earn himself a transfer when the window reopens at the end of this season.
“Some people may think it’s only rumours but I know something more about it,’ he said.
“I work hard in Empoli so that in June I may have a chance for such a big transfer.”
The Reds are hoping to build a squad that can challenge for the top four as they currently see themselves sitting ninth on the Premier League table, seven points away from Manchester City in fourth.
Zielinski has already featured 29 times in all competitions for his side this term, so far managing to score three goals while providing another five assists.
