Liverpool are believed to be closing in on the signature of Joe Allen after increasing their offer to £15 million, The Telegraph report.
Brendan Rodgers is eager to raid former club Swansea for new players this summer, and has been chasing the Wales international all summer long.
With Allen now returned to club duty after representing Team GB at the Olympics, the Reds are believed to have had a £12.5 million bid rejected by the Liberty Stadium side.
However, Liverpool have now met the midfielder’s £15 million release clause and are therefore free to discuss personal terms with the player.
Allen is thought to be keen to move to Anfield and will sign on the dotted line in the near future.
