Liverpool are announced that they have landed Newcastle United midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum on their official website, with the deal believed to have cost the Reds a cool £25 million.
The Netherlands international moved to St James Park last summer from PSV Eindhoven and impressed despite his team being relegated from the Premier League.
Wijnaldum’s situation in the North East was being monitored by a host of European sides this summer, but Jurgen Klopp has moved quickly to ensure the versatile attacker ended up at Anfield.
The new arrival is set to join the rest of his new team-mates on Liverpool’s pre-season tour and will offer the Merseysiders an extra option in attacking midfield alongside the likes of Philippe Coutinho, Adam Lallana and Roberto Firmino.
Newcastle will be happy with the fee they received for Wijnaldum given that they received a healthy profit on the star in the 12 months he was with the Tyneside club.
