Liverpool look to lose their battle to try and recall Divock Origi as Lille has come out to reveal that they will keep him at the club until his loan deal ends in June, Metro reports.
Brendan Rodgers signed the 19-year-old right after the World Cup, but decided to loan him out for the rest of the season hoping that he would get some first team action.
However, with the Reds struggling to find goals from their attackers due to the absence of Daniel Sturridge, who was out through injury, a possible move to bring back their on-loan striker was brought up.
Lille director Jean-Michel Vandamme came out to deny this being as a possibility as the Belgium forward has already netted four goals in six competitive starts, meaning Rodgers may need to reshuffle his squad to fix their current problems.
“It’s impossible. He will stay here until June.”
Sturridge is said to be back in training and could make his return during the upcoming fixture against Queens Park Rangers.
