Liverpool defender flying home for £6million move

Liverpool defender Brad Smith is currently flying back to England to finalise a switch to Bournemouth.

That’s according to the Liverpool Echo, who claim Smith has left the Reds’ pre-season training camp in America in order to seal a £6million switch to the Cherries.

The Australian has already agreed personal terms with Eddie Howe’s side, and just has to complete a medical before signing the contract.

Smith made 4 league appearances for Liverpool last season, all under the management of Jurgen Klopp, as he started to break into the Reds first team.

And despite speculation that the Reds are actually looking to buy a new left-back, Klopp is happy to sell Smith for £6million. However, a buy-back clause will be installed in the deal, that can be activated within the next 2 years.

Smith made his Australia debut back in 2014, and played the full 90 minutes when the Socceroos came to Wembley in England’s preparations for Euro 2016.

He will be in contention to make his first Bournemouth appearance in their league opener on August 14th against Manchester United.
