Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is interested in signing Aleix Vidal from Barcelona this summer but will have to meet the star’s £45 million release clause, according to Mundo Deportivo.
The Reds are expected to be busy in the transfer market this summer and have already confirmed the arrival of a handful of new players.
It is Klopp’s first opportunity to do business in a pre-season window and the German reportedly has the versatile Vidal in his sights.
Vidal moved to Camp Nou from Sevilla last summer and famously had to spend the first six months of his time with Barcelona on the sidelines due to the Catalan club’s transfer ban.
Once eligible to play, the wideman found first-team opportunities hard to come by with Luis Enrique’s men and only started six La Liga games in 2015-16.
Vidal is being eyed up as a potential long-term replacement for Dani Alves at Barcelona, with the veteran Brazilian thought to be ready to leave the club this summer.
As such, Liverpool look set to be unsuccessful in their raid and will need to turn their attentions elsewhere.
