Liverpool have added Villarreal’s Mario Gaspar to their initial move for Luciano Vietto in hopes of completing a double deal for their services, according to reports from the Daily Star.
Brendan Rodgers’ side are already preparing to table an offer worth about £23million to secure the two players.
Gaspar, who plays at right-back, is seen as a possible candidate to replace Glen Johnson, who is ready to leave Anfield in the summer.
Vietto has already attracted interest from a number of sides, with his agent earlier admitting there was interest from Real Madrid and two other clubs from Germany.
“There is a lot of competition for him. He could sign for Liverpool, we know that he is admired by the Reds, as well as Real Madrid and two Bundesliga clubs,” he said.
The 21-year-old striker has been in great form this season, resulting in several clubs monitoring his expected departure this summer.
“I think he could leave Villarreal in the summer.”
He has made 34 appearances for his side during the course of the current campaign, netting 18 goals and providing six assists so far.
