Liverpool eye shock move for Manchester United striker

Liverpool are considering a shock move to sign out-of-favour Manchester United ace Javier Hernandez, who is currently on loan at Real Madrid, according to reports from the Metro.

The 26-year-old left to join the European champions in the summer after he failed to make it into the first-team at Old Trafford, but is also finding it hard to play regular football at the Santiago Bernabeu.

He is now set to return to the club at the end of the season, but is likely to be sold by manager Louis van Gaal.

Premier League sides Tottenham Hotspur, Everton, Stoke City, and West Ham United have all been linked with the Mexico international in recent months, with the Reds also entering the race for his services.

Hernandez is currently valued at around £14million, and with rumours that Rickie Lambert may leave Anfield, Brendan Rodgers could add another striker to his ranks.

Although United are not always open to selling one of their players to a direct rivals, Van Gaal is not likely to have the player in his plans, a factor that could influence his departure.
