Liverpool face transfer battle, Trepidation over Roy’s January DEALS, Henry highlights a scary reality – Best of LFC

If Liverpool supporters were dreaming of a return to Champions League football after their win over defending champions this week, the points they dropped against Wigan will have brought the Anfield faithful straight back to earth.

After winning three consecutive Premier League fixtures, the Wigan game was a real chance to undo a lot of the damage that a ponderous start to the tenure of Roy Hodgson had done to the Red’s standing. The most positive element of the week for Hodgson were the goals of Fernando Torres, who showed a hint of the form that earned him 33 goals in his first season at Anfield.

Much of the talk across the blogs this week have concerned the potential departure of goalkeeper Pepe Reina. Considering how monumental the Spaniard was for Liverpool last season, losing his services would be a killer for Liverpool’s plans under their new owners. Understandably there is also much speculation of how Roy Hodgson might spend his new found wealth in January.

Ahead of another interesting test for Liverpool’s recovery, as they travel to Stoke, we have a sample of the thoughts coming out of Merseyside from our best of the web section.
