Liverpool have failed to secure a loan move for Mario Balotelli to join Inter Milan after the Italian giants rejected the proposal, according to reports from Express.
The 24-year-old struggled over the course of the previous campaign following his £16million move from AC Milan last summer, only managing to score one Premier League goal in 16 appearances.
Manager Brendan Rodgers is now looking to offload the Italy international after securing a move for Danny Ings and is close to completing a deal for Christian Benteke from Aston Villa.
Benteke is now set to undergo his medical and is on the verge of finalizing a £32.5million transfer to Anfield, putting Balotelli’s future at the club in huge jeopardy.
It is believed that Inter boss Roberto Mancini, who has already worked with the player during his time in charge of Manchester City, rejected the deal because of his high wages and previous disciplinary issues.
The Reds are looking for any interested side to pay his full £75,000-a-week wages, an amount that has already pushed away a number of clubs hoping to secure his services.
