Liverpool are believed to be in pole position to land Lyon star Alexandre Lacazette ahead of Arsenal, who have also been linked with a move for the striker, Express reports.
The 23-year-old has already scored 21 goals in 22 starts for his side and tops the Ligue 1 goal-scoring charts, seven clear of second place Marseille’s Andre-Pierre Gignac.
Both Premier League giants have been tracking the French star in the build up to the January window, but since a switch failed to materialise, he is now being tipped to leave in the summer.
According to an interview with football expert Julien Laurens, the Reds are more likely to secure his services ahead of their league rivals due Brendan Rodgers’ tactical philosophy.
“I think Brendan Rodgers really likes him,” he said.
“Rodgers likes those types of players that can play anywhere up front and with a lot of movement, so I think he could eventually fit in well there.”
He also added that his switch to England may depend on how well his side does at the end of the current campaign, while also hinting that his style of play may be more suited to the German Bundesliga when compared to the Premier League.
“It’s his first really big season and I’m just not sure if he is good enough already for a top-four club in England.
“I think the Bundesliga will suit him more than any other league.”
