Liverpool are favourites to sign talented Barcelona attacker Cristian Tello on loan for the rest of the season, ahead of Premier League rivals Arsenal and Tottenham, according to the Daily Star.
The Spaniard has been widely tipped to join the Merseyside giants, with some reports in December suggesting a loan move for the rest of the season had already been agreed.
The winger has seen his first team opportunities at the Nou Camp limited this season, managing only two starts under new Barcelona boss Gerardo Martino.
Brendan Rodgers attempted to bring the Spaniard to Anfield in the summer, only to be told by Tello that he wanted to stay and fight for his first team place.
Now Rodgers is set to offer him first team football once more, and is confident he can see off interest from Arsenal and Tottenham to complete the deal.
Rodgers recently revealed his backroom staff were busy organising transfer business for the month ahead.
“Obviously the recruitment team are busy putting things together in terms of the profile of players we need here to improve the team and the squad.
“The owners have invested millions upon millions into the team and every window we arrive in looking to improve where we can.
“This window will be no different.”
Bookmakers are offering odds as low as 1/3 for the Reds to complete a move for Tello before the close of the transfer window.
Arsenal are rated at 50/1, whilst Tottenham are the far outsiders at 66/1.
