Liverpool have emerged as the bookies’ favourites to land Bayern Munich midfielder Renato Sanches.
The youngster has been linked to Manchester United, Chelsea and Manchester City in the past, but the Merseyside outfit have moved ahead of the pack, as far as the betting market is concerned.
According to Spanish publication Sport, Liverpool have opened talks with Bayern regarding a deal for the Portuguese Euro 2016 winner.
The report suggests that the 20-year-old could be a replacement for Philippe Coutinho, who has been trying to orchestrate a move to Barcelona, but the Spanish outfit have failed with three bids.
Bayern boss Carlo Ancelotti is not expected to stand in Sanches’s way if an offer comes in for him.
As it stands, Sky Bet have Liverpool at 6/4 favourites to sign the midfielder, while the German giants’ odds have shortened to 7/2 on the Portuguese star staying put.
Interestingly, Sky Bet have offered 7/4 on Swansea City nabbing Sanches’s signature, but Liverpool are leading the race.
It is fair to say that the Reds’ transfer plans have not gone swimmingly, with targets Naby Keita and Virgil van Dijk proving difficult to sign, but it seems that Jurgen Klopp is keen to bring in some new faces before the window shuts on Thursday.
So far this summer, Liverpool have recruited Dominic Solanke, Mohamed Salah and Andrew Robertson.
