Inter Milan have revealed that they rejected a £22.7million bid from Liverpool for star man Mauro Icardi, according to reports from Football Italia, citing Corriere della Sera.
Icardi was heavily linked with a move away from the Giuseppe Meazza during January, with Arsenal and Chelsea reportedly keen on the Argentina international.
However, despite speculation that he was available on transfer deadline day after starting on the bench for the Milan derby, Icardi will stay with the Nerrazurri at least until the end of the campaign.
Icardi came off the bench against Milan and had an incredible opportunity to level the game at 1-1, but he fluffed his penalty, resulting in their arch rivals going on to win 3-0.
And now, Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera has claimed that Liverpool did submit an offer, but it was turned down due to the club being unable to find a replacement.
Icardi, 22, made 48 appearances in all competitions last season, scoring 27 goals and providing nine assists.
