Liverpool have been halted in their chase to sign Swansea City star Andre Ayew after manager Garry Monk came out to play down the speculation, according to reports from the Express.
The 25-year-old emerged as a transfer target for newly appointed Reds boss Jurgen Klopp heading into the upcoming January transfer window.
He arrived on a free transfer during the summer after playing out his contract with former side Marseille and begun the new campaign on good form.
However, Monk came out to reveal that links over the potential sale of Ayew is pure speculation and he is not focused on all the rumours in the media.
“The speculation starts earlier and earlier every year, but I don’t think about it,” he said.
“There is no point in me focusing on things like that, things are not reality.”
The forward has so far started eight Premier League games for his side this term, scoring four goals while providing another one assists.
Apart from the Swans star, the arrival of Klopp has also linked him with Marco Reus, Mats Hummels, and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, all players from his former club Borussia Dortmund.
