Liverpool have been hit with the news that young star Kevin Stewart limped off in training and will miss their Europa League clash against Ausburg this Thursday, according to reports from the Liverpool Echo.
Stewart only recently made his Premier League debut in their 6-0 victory over Aston Villa after some fine performances in the FA Cup, but the 22-year-old will now undergo scans to see the extent of the problem.
This will be a big blow for the Reds, with manager Jurgen Klopp keen on using his younger players amid their hectic fixture list.
However, Klopp will have the services of defensive midfielder Lucas Leiva, who has recovered from a minor hamstring injury that ruled him out of their victory over Villa.
“We lost Kevin Stewart in training,” Klopp said.
“He blocked a shot and his ankle was not stable.
“It was a bit bruised so we have sent him for a scan. We think it’s the ligament.
“He trained outstandingly and then this happened. That’s not too good.
“Lucas is back fit but not Adam (Lallana). He has no chance for Thursday’s game.”
Star striker Daniel Sturridge is also set t of feature in Germany after starting his first league game since October, which is welcome news for the gaffer.
