Liverpool are currently in negotiations to sign Benfica star Eduardo Salvio, according to reports from the Metro.
Salvio has been heavily linked with a move out of the Estadio da Luz in recent months, with Manchester United also keen on his services.
However, the Reds have jumped in front of their rivals in the race to sign the winger, as reports have suggested that Liverpool have started talks to bring Salvio over to Anfield this summer.
The 24-year-old is spending his third season with the Portuguese giants after making a move from Atletico Madrid back in 2011, and was an integral part of the side that won the Primeira Liga title last season.
Benfica are looking for a club that will can pay Salvio’s £43.6million buy-out clause, but with his contract expiring in the summer of 2017, could sell him for significantly less.
Salvio is having another impressive campaign with the club, scoring eight goals and supplying seven assists in 23 league games this season.
