Liverpool have been alerted by the possible availability of Bayern Munich star Xabi Alonso, according to report from the Express.
Alonso is currently embroiled in contract discussions with the Bundesliga champions, however it seems that the Spain international is in no hurry to sort out his immediate future.
“My contract? We will see what happens. This is not the time to discuss this subject,” he said.
And with Kop manager Brendan Rodgers still keen on signing a central midfielder, the former Real Madrid ace is once again being linked with a return to Anfield.
The 33-year old spent an incredibly successful five years with the Reds, winning the Champions League, FA Cup, and UEFA Super Cup before joining Real in 2009.
Liverpool have been extremely active in the summer transfer market, already securing seven signings while also receiving a massive £49million from the sale of Raheem Sterling to Manchester City.
But the Reds are not done there, and could bring in Alonso after they complete the £32.5million deal for Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke.
