Liverpool join race for Euro 16 star

Liverpool are the latest side to register their interest in signing France international and Leicester City star N’golo Kante, according to reports in the Daily Star.

Manchester United, Chelsea, Tottenham, Arsenal and Manchester City are all thought to already be expressing their intent to sign the midfield destroyer, but Jurgen Klopp is holding out hope that he can make a late move to snatch the midfielder from under the noses of their Premier League rivals.

The £22 million release clause in Kante’s contract makes it impossible for the Foxes to keep hold of their midfield star if the big clubs come calling and it is believed that Claudio Ranieri and others around the club are resigned to losing their midfield lynch-pin.

Although a new contract – with a significant wage rise – could be on offer, the Star have reported that Kante’s future will not solely be down to money and there is more to be considered for the Frenchman.
