Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard could make a shock return to Anfield after holding discussions with Reds manager Jurgen Klopp, according to reports from the Independent.
Gerrard left Merseyside to LA Galaxy after an incredible 17 years with Liverpool during the summer, with former boss Brendan Rodgers seeing the Englishman as surplus to requirements.
But since Rodgers’ sack and Klopp’s appointment, the German boss has held talks with Gerrard over the phone and is convinced that the 35-year-old can greatly help the squad due to his professionalism and attitude.
With the MLS season over, Gerrard is considering a return to train until January 15, but it does not take away the option of luring the central midfielder back with a formal contract.
However, with another year remaining on his current deal, Galaxy will be demanding a potentially high transfer fee if Liverpool come knocking to bring back their former hero.
Gerrard has so far made 14 appearances for Galaxy, scoring two goals.
