Liverpool legend Michael Owen believes his former side should sign Paul Pogba to become the eventual successor to Steven Gerrard, a player who is nearing the end of his career, Daily Mail reports.
The 34-year-old is a key member of Brendan Rodgers squad, mostly down to his influence in the dressing room, but when it comes to playing the midfield role, he is becoming a shadow of his former self.
Owen said: “Steven Gerrard’s not going to go on forever so the ideal replacement there would probably be someone like Paul Pogba at Juventus.
“He’s an exceptional talent, a young talent that can play in that drive an central midfield role.”
Pogba is highly unlikely to leave the Serie A, but that hasn’t stopped Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City, and Manchester United from chasing the £40million rated 21-year-old.
Apart from interest from the the Premier League, he is also being tracked by Ligue 1 side Paris Saint-Germain as well as La Liga giants Real Madrid.
