Liverpool are locked in a £7m battle with Juventus to secure the signature of Lyon defender Aly Cissokho when the transfer window reopens in January according talkSPORT.

Despite signing Jose Enrique from Newcastle in August Reds boss Kenny Dalglish is keen to boost his options at  left back and has reignited his interest in Cissokho.

The 24-year-old Frenchman was linked with a switch to Anfield during the summer but a move never materialised with the Scotsman subsequently bringing in Enrique.

A January move for the left back now looks increasingly likely with Dalglish desperate to give the Spaniard some competition although the Merseysiders will have to move swiftly to tie up a deal with Juventus also keen to sign him.

Reports emanating from France have suggested that both clubs sent scouts to watch Cissokho in action for Lyon during Tuesday's Champions League encounter with Dinamo Zagreb.

A impressive performance  will have further enhanced the Premier League and Serie A giant's hunger to sign the Les Gones fullback who made his debut for the French national team in August.

The Ligue 1 side are desperate to keep the former Porto man at the Stade de Gerland although it's thought they would't stand in his way if they were to received a sizeable offer for his services in the new year.
