Liverpool looking to axe trio ahead of mega money move

Liverpool are keen to axe Rickie Lambert, Mario Balotelli and Fabio Borini this summer as they plot to up their efforts to land Christian Benteke, according to reports from the Liverpool Echo.

The Reds have recently revived their interest in the £32.5m-rated Aston Villa man, however, they’re reluctant to pay such a high fee.

Even with the deal, as it stands, some way from becoming a reality, the Merseysiders are keen to clear up space and will do so by axing three of their current crop of flops.

Reports suggest that Lambert, wanted by West Brom, Borini and Balotelli are all available, with the threesome having notched a miserable total of four league goals between them last term.

With Danny Ings and Divock Origi, as well as attacking midfielder Roberto Firmino, all signed up as options to play up front, the current trio look to have bleak futures unless they move on.
