The 23-year-old has spent the last two seasons on loan away from Anfield, enjoying campaigns with Malaga and Deportivo La Coruna respectively. He tallied up a total of 44 La Liga appearances for the two campaigns combined, scoring 8 goals.
And it seems he’s surplus to requirements under Jurgen Klopp too, with the Spaniard nowhere near the German manager’s first team plans.
He joined from Sevilla in 2013 for £6.8million, and made 9 Premier League appearances in his debut season. But now he could depart the Reds for just £2.6million, as the club clear him off their wage bill.
It was unlikely at the start of the transfer window that he’d feature for Liverpool this year, but the additions of Sadio Mane and Georginio Wijnaldium seemed to confirm that the Spaniard was an unwanted asset at Anfield.
His last Reds fixture in the Premier League was in January 2014.
