Liverpool must sell summer signing Mario Balotelli if they want to bring Serie A duo Gonzalo Higuain and Sergio Romero, Express reports.
The Italian has been heavily linked with a move away from Anfield after a disastrous first half to the season, with reports suggesting that Ligue-1 giants Paris Saint-Germain are keen to bring him to France.
Balotelli cost the Reds £16million and has yet to score in the Premier League, frustrating fans and manager Brendan Rodgers.
The Liverpool hierarchy have therefore targeted Napoli hitman Gonzalo Higuain in the January transfer window, with rumours the Argentine is unhappy at the Stadio San Paolo.
The Reds are also keen on Sampdoria goalkeeper Sergio Romero, but before they can push for a transfer they need to find a way offload Balotelli at a decent price.
Liverpool are however prepared to also sell Lucas, who is being targeted by Napoli, Inter Milan, and Sampdoria, in order to fund the switch.
