Liverpool have decided not to appeal against the red card dished out to Joe Cole in the 1-1 draw with Arsenal at Anfield on Sunday afternoon.
Cole, who was making his league debut for the Reds, was shown a straight red card just before half-time for a late challenge on Laurent Koscielny, leaving manager Roy Hodgson to ponder an appeal.
However, the Merseysiders have now accepted the decision of referee Martin Atkinson and Cole will sit out Premier League clashes with Manchester City, West Bromwich Albion and Birmingham City.
Boss Hodgson had said soon after the weekend action:"He will be a big loss if he is suspended.
"We will look at the video again, maybe try to find out from the referee and experts if we do have a case for appeal.
"I don't want a frivolous appeal, but Joe Cole has an unblemished record in his career. He has never been sent off and has very few yellow cards.
"Anyone who has watched Joe play will realise he is not the guy that goes in for blood-curdling tackles. Replays suggest he was a little bit unlucky."
