Liverpool are considering a shock raid on Merseyside rivals Everton for unsettled winger Kevin Mirallas, according to the Express.
Reports over the past couple of days have suggested the Reds have made contact with the players agent to assess where he sees his future lying, with Tottenham also said to be interested in the Belgian international.
Mirallas is under contract at Goodison Park until 2016, and reports suggest he is ready to knock back the offer of a new deal on improved terms.
Should that be the case, the Toffees will look to sell rather than risk losing the 27-year-old for nothing.
Mirallas recently admitted he may be forced to consider his future if Everton fail to qualify for next seasons Champions League.
“I’ve made no secret of the fact that I want to play in the Champions League. Ideally I will do so with Everton,” he said.
“But if that doesn’t appear possible we will have to look at the situation.
“Let’s see how Everton react if we fail to qualify, and the same applies to myself. Discussions about a new contract have been going on since the summer. It is normal for them to take time.
“The talks have taken place in good spirit. You can see that I’m feeling good when I am out on the pitch.”
Liverpool are by no means assured of next seasons competition, but should Brendan Rodgers side manage to achieve a top four finish, they may well come calling for Mirallas at the end of the season.
