Liverpool have sent scouts to watch Arsenal target William Carvalho as they prepare to beat their league rivals to his signature, according to reports from the Metro.
The 22-year-old Sporting Lisbon star has constantly been linked with Arsene Wenger’s side since the previous season, with the Gunners keen on completing the deal in the summer.
However, Reds boss Brendan Rodgers is also considering a move for the midfielder, as he prepares for to find adequate cover for Steven Gerrard.
The Anfield legend is set to complete his move to MLS side LA Galaxy, with the Reds also keeping an eye on Real Madrid star Isco as another candidate.
Liverpool scouts were said to have been at Carvalho’s latest match, where his side fell to a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Porto.
The Portugal international featured in 22 out of a possible 23 league matches for his side this season, and would only be allowed to leave if any interested clubs can meet his £37.5million release clause.
