Liverpool are hoping to beat Arsenal to the £42million capture of Borussia Dortmund star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, according to reports from the Daily Star.
Aubameyang has been heavily linked with a move away from the Westfalenstadion to the Premier League in recent weeks, with the Reds, the Gunners, and Manchester United all keen on the Gabon international.
It was recently reported from the Sun that Arsenal were leading the chase for Aubameyang’s signature, with a £42million bid being prepared by Arsene Wenger.
However, former Dortmund manager Jurgen Klopp, who is now in charge of Liverpool, is hoping that his good relationship with the BVB and the player himself can help persuade Aubameyang to join the Merseyside club instead.
And Spanish source Don Balon has claimed that the Reds are also readying a big offer to bring him to Anfield, with Everton’s Romelu Lukaku being monitored by Dortmund to replace the Bundesliga top scorer.
Aubameyang, 26, has scored 27 goals in 27 games in all competitions so far this season.
