Liverpool are awaiting the results of Jay Rodriguez as they are still considering the possibility of signing him from Southampton if he is deemed fit to return to first team action, Mirror reports.
The 25-year-old has been out since April of last year after suffering an injury to his knee and has only recently returning to training ahead of his potential return to the squad.
Apart from Brendan Rodgers’s side, Manchester City as well as Tottenham Hotspur are still keeping a close eye on the English attacker and are believed to be preparing a January bid should club doctors allow him to play again.
Although he has not featured in any competitive games this year, the Saints still value him at about £20million and should any club come knocking, they may need to consider a bid of around that amount.
Rodriguez was in top form before damaging his anterior cruciate ligament, scoring 17 goals and was even tipped to have a place in the England national squad for the World Cup in Brazil.
