Liverpool risk missing out on Serie A starlet

Liverpool are at risk of missing out on long-term transfer target Piotr Zielinski, according to Corriere dello Sport.

The youngster has been heavily linked with a move to Anfield, with a deal still yet to be finalised.

And it now seems Jurgen Klopp could pay the price for not securing the 22-year-old’s signature, with AC Milan reportedly overtaking the Reds in the race to sign him.

Zielinksi spent the last two seasons on loan at Empoli, netting five times last season in 35 league appearances. Employee finished the season in 10th, whilst his parent club Udinese only just survived in Serie A, staying up by the single point.

Liverpool have done their business early so far, securing players such as Karius, Matip and Mane before their preseason got underway.

But they have fallen behind in their pursuit of the 22-year-old, who made just the one appearance for Poland at EURO 2016.

Milan finished 34 points adrift of winners Juventus, and are keen to bolster their squad in a bid to return to their glory days.
