Liverpool are currently in talks with Real Madrid over a potential £38.8million straight-cash deal to bring Karim Benzema to the English Premier League and beat rivals Arsenal to their long-term target, Metro reports.
The 26-year-old striker is put back at the top of Brendan Rodgers shopping list after his newest attacking additions Mario Balotelli and Rickie Lambert is yet to make an impact in place of injured Daniel Sturridge.
After the departure of Luis Suarez, the Reds are still searching for another world class forward as the La Liga giants is believed to have told Rodger’s that a bid of £38.8million up front is all that is needed to pry him away from the Bernabeu.
Despite already adding Danny Welbeck, Arsene Wenger will also be interested in adding the long-term target to his plans in bids to add some extra competition as well as more fire power to his attack.
Madrid are said to already have replacements lined up to replace the French international and would want the payment upfront so they can use the profits to secure another top attacker.
