The Anfield side are looking to revamp under Brendan Rodgers’ tutelage, and have already signed Fabio Borini, Joe Allen and Oussama Assaidi this summer so far.
The Turkish international has found opportunities at the Santiago Bernabeu limited since moving to Spain from Borussia Dortmund last summer, and Jose Mourinho is willing to let the playmaker leave on loan.
Arsenal were thought to be very close to signing Sahin, however a squabble over the potential transfer fee should a move become permanent is said to have blocked a switch to the Emirates Stadium.
Liverpool are now the frontrunners for the talented midfielder’s signature, which has been confirmed by Reds boss Rodgers.
“Hopefully in the next 24 hours we will get some confirmation on that,” Sky Sports report the Northern Irish manager as saying.
“It’s quite far along. He’s a very good footballer.”
