Liverpool are set to make a bid for Lyon attacker Alexandre Lacazette before the transfer window closes, Metro reports.
Lacazette was heavily linked with a move to Anfield in recent months after some impressive displays for the Ligue-1 side, scoring 24 goals in 21 games so far this season.
Recently Brendan Rodgers claimed that the Reds will not be spending big in the January transfer window, but according to French sources, Liverpool are set to launch a big offer for the France international.
However the Merseyside club will be facing some stiff competition from French champions Paris Saint-Germain, who are also keen to sign 23-year-old goal-machine.
This could be an obstacle in Liverpool’s pursuit to lure him to Anfield, as PSG’s spending power outmuscles that of the Premier League club.
Rodgers will keep a close eye on the situation, with a striker still a primary target as summer signing Mario Balotelli has yet to score in the league and Daniel Sturridge recovering from injury.
