Liverpool star Jordan Henderson has revealed that his side will have to fight even harder if they want to finish in the top four following their latest defeat, Mirror reports.
The 25-year-old club skipper was unable to help his side pick up three points at the weekend after losing out to rivals Manchester United 1-0.
Manager Jurgen Klopp saw his men control the game as well as create more chances, but their failure to find the back of the net eventually punished them as Wayne Rooney’s goal gifted the visitors all three points.
Henderson believes his team’s lack of goals would eventually come back to haunt them in their pursuit to finish the campaign with a spot in the Champions League.
“I am not sure if the top four has gone. At the moment we are not in it, but we have to keep on fighting,” he said.
“We are getting chances, we are creating chances but we just couldn’t finish them off against United for whatever reason. So we just have to keep going. Sometimes football is like that, sometimes you play well and get beat.”
The Reds have now gone three consecutive Premier League games without a win, drawing 3-3 against Arsenal and losing out to West Ham United and Manchester United.
Klopp’s side now sit ninth on the league table, with eight points separating them from Tottenham Hotspur in fourth.
