Liverpool star Mamadou Sakho limped off injured during his side’s 1-0 FA Cup win over Blackburn on Wednesday, according to reports from the Daily Mail.
Sakho only managed to play 28 minutes of the game at Ewood Park before being guided off by the medical staff while holding his hamstring.
This is set to leave Reds manager Brendan Rodgers with only two fit centre-backs ahead of their next fixture, as Martin Skrtel won’t be available.
The Slovakian is ineligible to play against Newcastle this coming Monday, meaning Rodgers could revert to a four man back-line in order to deploy only two centre-backs.
Scans planned for Thursday will reveal the extent of Sakho’s injury, however it is already likely that the 25-year-old will not be fit enough to face the Magpies.
Philippe Coutinho scored the only goal of the game to send the Reds into the FA Cup semi-final.
