Liverpool have been handed a blow, with Jordan Henderson set to sit out the rest of the season with a knee ligament injury, The Guardian report.
The all-action midfielder picked up the injury in the Reds’ 1-1 draw against Borussia Dortmund on Thursday night in the Europa League, with the prognosis not good for the player or his team.
Henderson is the Merseyside outfit’s captain and having him fit and firing would have been a real boost in the side’s pursuit of a successful culmination to the campaign.
Internationally the former Sunderland man looked likely to start for England at Euro 2016 but is now looking likely to miss the competition.
As such, Leicester’s Danny Drinkwater could well be given a chance to feature for the Three Lions in France.
The initial report suggests that Henderson will miss six to eight weeks due to his ailment, which means he will not be match fit to represent England.
